Core Points for Eye Protection
I. Universal Golden Rules for Eye Care
1.Remember the 20-20-20 Rule: After 20 minutes of close-range eye use, look at an object 6 meters away for 20 seconds, and blink 10 to 15 times in the meantime.
2.Maintain a proper posture: Keep mobile phones 30-40 cm from the eyes; position computer screens 10-15° below eye level; hold books 33-35 cm from the eyes; sit upright without tilting your head.
3.Optimize the eye-use environment: Prioritize natural light; avoid harsh or dim lighting; keep screen brightness in harmony with the surrounding environment and eliminate glares.
4.Control usage time: For adults, screen time should not exceed 8 hours a day; children under 3 are prohibited from using electronic devices; children aged 3-6 should have no more than 1 hour of screen time daily.
II. Targeted Protection for Different Groups
Children and Adolescents
Spend at least 2 hours outdoors every day and get an eyesight check every 3-6 months; do more eye exercises such as “eye tracking games” and “eye rotation training”, and avoid addiction to electronic devices.
Adults
Take a 5-10 minute break every hour of computer use; relieve eye fatigue with hot compresses and eye exercises; wear contact lenses for no more than 8 hours a day.
Seniors
Wear properly prescribed presbyopic glasses and take a break every 30 minutes of close-range eye use; have a professional ophthalmic examination once a year; wear sunglasses outdoors to shield against harsh light.
III. Dietary and Exercise Support
Increase intake of lutein (corn, blueberries), vitamin A (carrots, egg yolks) and Omega-3 (deep-sea fish, walnuts); often do outdoor activities like distance viewing and kite flying.
IV. Correction of Common Misconceptions
- Blue light blocking glasses cannot prevent myopia, but only relieve eye fatigue.
- Eye drops do not cure dry eyes; use no more than 4 times a day.
- Properly prescribed glasses will not worsen myopia—poor eye-use habits are the main cause.
Warm Reminder
Get regular eyesight checks for early detection and intervention; do not use electronic devices while walking, riding in a vehicle or lying in bed to protect your clear vision!
